Book Week – what a buzz! So many children had the fun of bringing their favourite story book characters to life through dressing up and experiencing the excitement of new books being added to library shelves. It was encouraging, as a fledgling to the writing world, to see so many parents purchasing books and encouraging their children to read. Although some would dispute bringing bookshops to schools as their stock is limited and selective, it still encourages children to evaluate, select and enjoy books. There is always a thrill in turning the crisp pages of a new book, waiting in suspense for the resolution to each arising problem and being so engrossed in a story that the world beyond vanishes as your attention is focused purely on the adventure unfolding in your hands.
